World Making
I have this idea of absolute narratives. Archetypal narratives that are parradigmatic, that transcend daily reoccurrence, modern fiction, religious parrable. Even though they are purely metaphorical they have an autonomy outside of their metaphors and are understood universally regardless of language or culture. They are consolidated into semmiotics and understood the very basics of signs. ...

Today I have been helping my Nan take down all the chrystals from her chandeliers so they wont get damaged in the decorating that is going on here. It is really sunny right now and the light in the crystals is casting prism rainbows all around my room. As we were taking them down my Nan said to me, do you remember when you were little and you used to play with the crystals when we used to live in...

I swear I’ve been doing stuff! It is just everything seems to take me half a century. This is a pseudo-montage of some progress shots. Interesting? perhaps not. But, something? Perhaps yes.

Surrogate
The picture that I promised. I know, it is late, I am sorry. This is the concept sketch for a Doll I am making. Did you know that hollow Egyptian dolls were thought of as a kind of Surrogate body for wandering souls? I can’t remember who told me that, but it resonated with me. There are a lot of hollow spaces that stagnant ‘stuff’ seems, to me to linger in. Houses and rooms,...

A New Start
Today I have been painting a drawing that I made about 2 weeks ago. The picture describes much of what I will be making this winter and hopefully, the beginning of the cornerstone piece in my portfolio for university interviews next year. If you ever decide to take a foundation level in art and design, one thing they will always tell you is that you will experience many different medias and...

My best friend Liz came back to Cornwall the other day to see me :D. We went for ice cream Sundae’s in the new ice cream sundae parlor that has just opened up in Fowey (I had a pear one) And then we met a very soft, attention seeking cat. We had a lovely day talking about life out of Cornwall, Circumcision, the sea and sex. But now it is Tuesday and it is time to work again :( byebye...

I’ve become a little despondent but I’ve promised myself I’m going to change that now.  In my Grandparents house there is a very old book of Byron’s poetry that belonged to my great Grandma. The first time I saw it in the book shelf I was about 11 and was fastly growing apart from my best friend as she decided she wanted to grow up too fast and I decided I didn’t...
